Ontario Provincial Board of Health Annual Report, 1913
Reports of the Provincial Sanitary Engineer, pg. 68
Woodstock, December 3rd.
An inquiry was made into the present condition of the Woodstock sewage disposal works. Investigation showed that the beds were not being operated correctly and that the effluent reaching the Thames River above Chatham was in very little better condition than the raw sewage being fed to the disposal area. At the present time the sewage appears to be distributed in channels several feet below tile bed and filters laterally to the outlet. It is probable that the most economical system to install at this date is that of a biological filter fed with some apparatus such as a spray or other mechanical device promoting the even distribution of sewage. The effluent should be chlorinated.
